Automated Transmission of Container Seal Changes to ACE Manifest for Ocean and Rail Shipments – Updated Trade Information Notice
CBP will implement new disposition codes in ACE to automatically notify carriers when CBP personnel add or remove container seals for ocean and rail shipments. ABI filers will be able to query D2/D3 notification records for bills of lading. Production deployment is scheduled for April 9, 2026.

Adicionalmente, los usuarios ABI podrán consultar registros de notificaciones D2/D3 para determinar si CBP ha modificado sellos, incluyendo visualización de nuevos números de contenedor y sello.
Who is impacted
Transportistas marítimos y ferroviarios, agentes aduanales que utilizan ABI, importadores que manejan carga contenerizada, operadores de terminales y cualquier participante de la cadena de suministro que utilice manifiestos ACE para embarques marítimos y ferroviarios.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has published an updated version of the Trade Information Notice regarding Automated Transmission of Container Seal Changes to ACE Manifest. This update introduces significant improvements in communication between CBP and trade participants regarding container security seal modifications.
The primary enhancement involves new disposition codes that will enable the ACE system to automatically notify carriers via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) when CBP personnel add or remove container seals for ocean and rail shipments. This automation significantly improves traceability and transparency in inspection operations.
As an additional feature, users operating through the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) will now be able to query a record of D2/D3 notifications associated with a specific bill of lading. This functionality allows users to determine if CBP has added or removed container seals, including viewing the new container and seal numbers assigned.
These updates are currently available in the ACE CERT environment for testing purposes. Deployment to the ACE production (PROD) environment is scheduled for April 9, 2026. CBP recommends that all trade participants conduct necessary testing before this date.
